This Week's New DVDs: August 20th 2018
Rampage, Beast, Truth Or Dare and In The Fade are among this week's new releases on DVD.
Rampage

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson finally takes on an opponent that is bigger than him in this almighty blockbuster.
Johnson plays primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth.
But when a rogue genetic experiment goes awry, this gentle ape mutates into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse the same thing has happened to an alligator and a wolf in other parts of the country. To try and save the day, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote and avoid getting crushed to death.
Starring alongside Johnson and Harris are Malin Åkerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Brad Peyton, who previously directed Johnson in San Andreas, is in the director's chair.

Truth Or Dare

Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale leads the way in this teen horror.
Based on the much-loved party game, the story follows a group of college students who are haunted by spirits after playing the supernatural version of Truth or Dare.
Starring alongside Hale is Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Taylor Ali.
Jeff Wadlow, director of Kick-Ass 2, is in charge of this one, with horror kingpin Jason Blum among the producers.
In The Fade
Curzon Artificial Eye
Diane Kruger leads this dark thriller, which scored a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film earlier this year.
Kruger plays Katja, a woman who heads out for revenge after her husband and son are killed in a bomb attack.
The movie takes its title from Queens Of The Stone Age’s song of the name, which is fitting as it has a score from Queens frontman Joshua Homme.
Beast
Altitude
War And Peace’s Jessie Buckley and folkster turned actor Johnny Flynn take centre stage in this drama from rising writer/director Michael Pearce.
Buckley plays Moll, a troubled young woman who falls for Pascal, a mysterious outsider who empowers her to escape from her oppressive family. When her new friend is accused of a series of brutal murders, Moll leaps to his defence, but is there more to the story?
Blindspot

Jaime Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton return for a third run of this hit action drama.
Alexander plays Jane Doe who, after being found naked and suffering from amnesia in Times Square, is taken into FBI custody while they try to discover her true identity.
Picnic at Hanging Rock

Natalie Dormer stars in this dark new series.
The six-parter is an adaptation of Joan Lindsay's 1967 novel of the same name about a group of schoolgirls who, while on an outing to Australian tourist trap Hanging Rock, mysteriously disappear.
Lily Sullivan, currently starring in the TV take on Romper Stomper, and Orange is the New Black's Yael Stone are among Dormer's co-stars.

William Mosley, best known for his starring role in The Chronicles Of Narnia, leads the way in this modern day re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen's classic folk tale.
Mosley plays Cam Harrison, a young reporter following a big story about a Mermaid and a magic healing water. Sceptical about the idea, he travels to a small town in Mississippi, vowing to get the truth about the Mermaid.
Starring alongside Mosley are Downton Abbey's Poppy Drayton, Shirley MacLaine and Gina Gershon.

The Doctor Blake Mysteries

The fifth and final series of the Australian drama, which stars Craig McLachlan in the lead role of Doctor Lucien Blake, comes to DVD.
McLachlan's Blake returns home to Ballarat, northwest of Melbourne, in the late 1950s to take over his late father's general medical practice and role as police surgeon after an absence of 30 years.
