Mad Men: Series Six
The sixth season of the critically lauded drama Mad Men is released on DVD today (November 4) in a relatively quiet week for new releases.
This season is set against the background of America’s turmoil after the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy, with the ever-present Don Draper battling to win a prestigious advertising account at pretty much any cost. All 13 stylish and biting episodes are presented here along with some excellent special features.
Family Guy: Season 12
As well as this, the 12th season of Family Guy hits shelves today. Featuring all 23 complete episodes, this series features celebrity guest voices, including Cate Blanchett, Ricky Gervais, Ellen Page and Ryan Reynolds as well as a host of bonus features.
This Is The End
Also out today is This Is The End, a comedy which sees many of Hollywood’s young stars play fictional versions of themselves in the aftermath of a global apocalypse. Written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the flick stars James Franco, Michael Cera, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill and Danny McBride, but also features more cameos than you can count.
Grey’s Anatomy: Season Nine/Miranda: Series Three
The ninth season of beloved US medical drama Grey’s Anatomy also arrives on DVD today, as does the third series of the BBC’s much-watched sitcom Miranda.
Bula Quo!
Also out today is Bula Quo!, the crime-caper that sees British rock stalwarts Status Quo getting caught up in a heist on the island of Fiji. Quite what they were doing there in the first place is anyone’s guess…
Chasing Mavericks
Also released is surfing drama Chasing Mavericks, starring 300’s Gerard Butler. This coming of age drama tells the story of American surfer Jay Moriarity and his relationship with veteran boardsman Frosty Hesson.
Also Out This Week
The BBC’s new comedy-drama The Wrong Mans debuts on DVD, as does the second series of highly-acclaimed drama Inspector Montalbano. As well as this, the third season of Dynamo’s ‘Magician Impossible’, the debut series of Australian gritty prison drama Wentworth Prison, Tina Fey and Paul Rudd speared comedy Admission and British drama Trap For Cinderella are all released on DVD.
