After wowing back in 2015 with the brutal, uncompromising tale of the war on drugs that rages on the Mexican/American border, we now get a second helping.

Set a few years after Sicario, we find Josh Brolin's Matt and Benicio Del Toro's Alejandro still engulfed in the border war, facing cartels that are more powerful than ever.

The pair return to the US-Mexico border to hunt down Carlos Reyes, a cartel king now trafficking terrorists. What initially feels like a hit job quickly reveals itself as an elaborate CIA shadow war.

Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener and Matthew Modine co-star, with Stefano Sollima, director of Suburra, in charge of this one. Taylor Sheridan provides the script once again.

We go back to the beginning in the next instalment of The Purge. 

The new film is a prequel that tells us exactly how The Purge, the 12 hours for which all crime is legal, came into being, with Marisa Tomei, Y'lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez, Maria Rivera and Christian Robinson all starring. 

James DeMonaco once again supplies the script with Burning Sands' Gerard McMurray directing.

Cage and Riseborough play a couple living a peaceful life in their woodland cabin near California's Shadow Mountains, but find their peace suddenly shattered after a chance encounter with a sinister cult named Children of the New Dawn, led by the duplicitous Jeremiah Sand (Linus Roache).

Between the cult and an evil biker gang with a penchant for industrial strength LSD, the couple's lives are tragically torn apart, setting Cage's crossbow-wielding lumberjack on a rampage of bloody revenge.
