Three directors on shortlist for James Bond 25, 71's Yann Demange now favourite
Three directors are on the shortlist to direct the next James Bond movie, according to reports.
It was confirmed earlier this week that 007 will return to action in November 2019, with November 8th in that year booked in for a US release and a slightly earlier date in the UK.
The cast and director have yet to be confirmed, but it has been solidified that the movie, which is currently just known as Bond 25, will be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Now, according to Variety and Deadline, three directors have met with producers with a view to making the film. The first and favourite for the chair is Yann Demange, best known for directing fiery thriller 71, who has just finished working with Matthew McCoughaney on powerful thriller White Boy Rick.
The others are Arrival/Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve, who is finishing up Blade Runner 2049. and David Mackenzie, director of Oscar-nominated drama Hell Or High Water.
Daniel Craig is expected, but not confirmed, to return for the new movie, while there is no word on co-stars or villains just yet.
