Tim Minchin to play Friar Tuck in Robin Hood reboot Origins
Comedian Tim Minchin has signed up to play Friar Tuck in new reboot Robin Hood: Origins.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Minchin, who is currently co-directing and writing the music and lyrics for the DreamWorks animated feature Larrikins, will join the cast when filming begins later this year and will play Tuck, one of Robin's loyal companions.
Taron Egerton will play Robin Hood, with The Knick's Eve Hewson as Maid Marion, Jamie Foxx as Little John and Jamie Dornan playing Will Scarlett.
Ben Mendelsohn, star of Bloodline and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has signed up to play the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Robin Hood: Origins will be directed by Otto Bathurst, best known for his work directing Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. It is set to take the character back to his roots and discover how he became the iconic outlaw. It is due for release on March 23rd in 2018
