Title revealed for Downton Abbey film sequel
The title for the sequel to the Downton Abbey movie has been confirmed.
The movie, which was formerly simply known as Downton Abbey 2, will now be released under the title, Downton Abbey: A New Era.
Initially booked for cinemas this Christmas, the film will now be released on March 18th in 2022.
Downton Abbey began life as a hugely successful television series, which ran on ITV for six series and from 2010–15. A feature film then followed in 2019, which was a box office smash, with almost $200 million in box office takings.
For the movie sequel, Goodbye Christopher Robin director Simon Curtis behind the camera and a script from creator Julian Fellowes.
Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech, Elizabeth McGovern, and Maggie Smith will all return to star, while Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West will join the cast.
