Title revealed for new Die Hard movie

The title for the new instalment of Die Hard has been unveiled.

Released in 1988, Die Hard starred Bruce Willis as off-duty New York City Police Department officer John McClane who is caught in a Los Angeles skyscraper during a Christmas Eve heist.

The movie grossed over $140 million at the box office and has spawned four further sequels. A new movie was announced in 2017 and further details have now emerged, with the film now confirmed to be titled McClane.

The new movie will follow McClane as both a 60-year-old and a younger incarnation of McClane in his 20s. Willis will play the older man with Underworld man Len Wiseman attached to direct. Production is set to begin later this year.

Speaking to Empire, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said: "You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, ‘McCLANE. We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before.”

The producer added that the new movie will feature plenty of Willis as well as the younger version of the character.

He added: "I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce. The idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version."
