Toby Onwumere and Jonathan Groff join the cast of The Matrix 4
Casting for the upcoming fourth movie in the Matrix franchise is beginning to gather pace with two new additions in the last 48 hours. Yesterday it was Mindhunter's Jonathan Groff who was revealed to be joining the film's steadily growing cast, and he's followed today by Sense8's Toby Onwumere, who becomes the latest new addition.
They join a list of new arrivals to the franchise that also includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and while the latter is rumoured to be playing a younger version of Laurence Fishburne's character Morpheus, although none of the roles for the new additions have been confirmed and remain a mystery for now.
Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss and Jada Pinkett-Smith are among those returning to reprise their roles, while Lana Wachowski also returns to direct, working from a script co-written with Aleksander Hemon and Cloud Atlas writer David Mitchell.
The Matrix 4 is due to begin production next year, and while tehre's no fixed release date for the movie as yet it is currently expected to arrive in cinemas some time in 2022.
