Tom Felton, Ansel Elgort and Aaron Taylor-Johnson among 2,500 actors to audition for Han Solo
Disney have auditioned over 2,500 actors in their bid to find a young Han Solo, according to new reports.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller as well as casting director Jeanne McCarthy have looked over auditions, both on tape and in person, from over 2,500 actors in their bid to find the actor to play the young Solo in the new Star Wars spin-off.
Among those who have auditioned to play the role, which was made famous by Harrison Ford, are Harry Potter star Tom Felton, Godzilla's Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Mr Robot's Rami Malek and The Fault In Our Stars' Ansel Elgort.
Also reportedly in the running are Now You See Me's Dave Franco, Whiplash's Miles Teller and even Chandler Riggs, the 16-year-old star of The Walking Dead.
The spin-off won't shoot until January of 2017, with a release date of May 2018 currently pencilled in.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released into cinemas on December 18th, original Star Wars stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew are returning for The Force Awakens, which has been directed by JJ Abrams.
John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o are among the new faces in the cast.
