Tom Hardy wanted for villain role in X-Men: Apocalypse
Tom Hardy is being lined up to take the title role in X-Men: Apocalypse, according to reports.
Hardy, who has experience of playing a comic book villain from his spell as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, is is line to take the role of Apocalypse in the next X-Men film, which is now in pre-production.
According to The Wrap, Hardy is also being sought for a role in DC's Suicide Squad, but will not be able to take on that if he chooses to take the part in X-Men.
Apocalypse was first seen in the post-credit sequence for X-Men: Days of Future Past, where he was played by Brendan Pedder, you can watch the scene at the bottom of the page.
The character is the world's first mutant, born in Egypt at around 3,000 BC and is one of the series' most beloved villains.
X-Men: Apocalypse will see Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return for the sequel. It is due for release in May 2016.
