Tom Holland's Uncharted movie gets a December 2020 release date

The long-awaited movie adaptation of Uncharted has been given a release date.

The Uncharted game series has sold over 28 million units across the world and follows treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake as he travels around the world to uncover various historical mysteries.

Tom Holland will play Nathan Drake, with the movie arriving in cinemas on December 18th in 2020. He is the only confirmed casting thus far.

Holland, who is currently promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home, will work with Dan Trachtenberg, director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, on the movie.

A movie version of the game has been in active development since 2008, with Mark Wahlberg was attached to star at one time, while Chris Pratt was also linked with the role.

Trachtenberg has stepped into the role of director after the departure of Night At The Museum's Shawn Levy.

Levy joins David O. Russell, Seth Gordon and Neil Burger in departing the project during its development.
