Tomb Raider 2 delayed indefinitely
The sequel to Tomb Raider has been delayed indefinitely.
According to Deadline, MGM have now pulled the sequel's planned release date of March 19th in 2021.
There is no word on a new release date nor when production is due to begin.
The film, when it does come, will be the second instalment of the action series, which starred Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.
Ben Wheatley, director of Free Fire and High Rise, will take charge of the sequel. He takes over from Roar Uthuag, who stewarded the reboot.
Amy Jump, Wheatley's regular writing partner, is providing the script for the new movie.
Tomb Raider starred Vikander as Croft with The Wire's Dominic West in the role of her father, archaeologist Lord Richard Croft, the Earl of Abingdon and Walton Goggins and Daniel Wu in supporting roles.
Angelina Jolie starred as Croft in 2001's Tomb Raider and 2003's Tomb Raider: Cradle Of Life, before the series was rebooted with Vikander in the leading role.
