Tributes paid to Ronnie Corbett

Tributes have been pouring in for comedy legend Ronnie Corbett following the sad news yesterday that the much-loved actor and comedian had died, aged 85. A statement from his publicist read: "Ronnie Corbett CBE, one of the nation's best-loved entertainers, passed away this morning, surrounded by his loving family. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this very sad time."

Lifelong friend Lionel Blair revealed that Corbett had been suffering from Motor Neurone Disease in his later years, a fact kept secret from all but his family and closest circle of friends. Since yesterday's announcement, a flood of tributes to Corbett - who was best-known for being one half of legendary comedy duo The Two Ronnies alongside Ronnie Barker - have emerged on social media, with stars such as Roger Moore, David Walliams, Russell Crowe and even Prime Minister David Cameron posting their tributes and messages of sympathy on social media:
