Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski set to reboot 90s cult classic Twister
Joseph Kosinski, director of Tron: Legacy, looks set to charge of a reboot of 1996 disaster movie, Twister.
According to Deadline, Kosinski, who is currently in post-production on long-awaited Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick, is in talks with Universal Pictures over the project.
Released in 1996, Twister starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as Jo and Bill Harding, a married pair of weather scientists.
On the brink of divorce, they are forced to join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes.
Jan de Bont directed the original, working from a script from Michael Crichton. The reboot does not have a writer as yet, but Frank Marshall, Steven Spielberg's long-time producer, is overseeing the project.
Top Gun: Maverick had been due for release this summer, but amid the coronavirus pandemic, it has been delayed until December 23rd of this year.
