True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello to star as new Batman villain Deathstroke
Joe Manganiello, best known for his roles in True Blood and Magic Mike XXL, has been cast as Deathstroke, the villain in Ben Affleck's first standalone Batman movie.
Deathstroke's presence in the movie was confirmed last week by Affleck and DC Entertainment President and chief creative officer Geoff Johns has now confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that Manganiello has been cast in the role.
Though Deathstroke, who one of the most fearsome assassins in DC comics' repetoire, is confirmed to face down the Dark Knight in the standalone movie, though whether he will make an appearance in Justice League is still unknown.
Affleck's first solo Batman movie, which is expected to be titled The Batman, does not have a confirmed release date as yet. There are currently two unknown DC movies scheduled for October 5th in 2018, and November 1st in 2019, with The Batman potentially in line for one of those slots.
Affleck and Johns are currently writing the script for the movie together with Affleck scheduled to direct the film.
