Voice cast unveiled for new animated Super Mario movie
Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will lead an all-star cast for an upcoming animated movie based around Nintendo’s enduringly popular Super Mario Bros., directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.
Pratt will star as the voice of Mario himself, with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day to voice his brother Luigi and Jack Black as Mario’s long-standing nemesis Bowser.
Expected to arrive on cinema screens in 2022, the new animated feature will see directors Horvath and Jelenic working from a script written by Matthew Fogel, the man behind the screenplay for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
Other cast members announced include Anya Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan Michael Key as Toad and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, as well as Fred Armisen in the role of elder ape Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco as the voice of Spike.
