Watch the epic first trailer for the Ben-Hur remake

The first trailer for the big-budget remake of Ben-Hur has been unveiled, click below to watch it.

Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston plays the title role, which was made iconic by Charlton Heston, with Toby Kebbell playing Messala. Morgan Freeman takes the role of originally Ilderim, the man who oversees the slave Judah Ben-Hur's transformation to champion chariot racer.

Ben-Hur, which is adapted from Lew Wallace's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, was first filmed in 1959 with Heston in the title role. It tells the story of a Jewish prince, who is betrayed and sent into slavery by a Roman friend, before he regains his freedom and comes back for revenge.

It has been directed by Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov, with a script from 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley and Keith Clarke. It also stars Homeland's Nazanin Boniadi and 300's Rodrigo Santoro.

The movie will be released into UK cinemas on August 26th, two weeks after it gets a release in the US.
