The show's second season is currently being shown on Sky Atlantic and on HBO in the US, but producers have already decided to confirm its return for a third run.
Westworld, which stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Ben Barnes, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Luke Hemsworth, has been a hit with both critics and viewers, as well as scoring 20 Emmy nominations in 2017.
Speaking about the decision, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said: "It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew. From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us."
It is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name and is set on in a fictional Westworld, a technologically advanced, Western-themed amusement park populated completely by synthetic androids who cater to wealthy guests. The guests who can do whatever they wish within the park, without fear of retaliation from the hosts.
