Whiplash star J.K. Simmons to star as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League
Whiplash star J.K. Simmons has signed up to play Commissioner Gordon in the forthcoming Justice League movies.
The star, who was most recently seen in Terminator: Genisys, will take the role of the Gotham city cop who becomes Batman's key contact within law enforcement.
Various actors have played the role over the years, with Gary Oldman most recently taking the part in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.
Director Zack Snyder is now in London working on pre-production for Justice League and will begin work on the new movie on April 11th, two weeks after Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice opens in cinemas.
The movie will bring together Ben Affleck's Batman, Henry Cavill's Superman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher's Cyborg, Ezra Miller's The Flash and Jason Momoa's Aquaman as they unite for thr first time.
Justice League - Part 1 will open in cinemas on November 17th in 2017 with the second instalment set to follow two years later.
The Flash and Aquaman will both get their own movies in 2018, while Cyborg will make his solo bow in 2020.
