Will Smith and Tim Burton set for key roles in Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo
Will Smith and Tom Hanks look set to lead Disney's new live-action adaptation of Dumbo.
According to Variety, if he sings on, Smith will play the father of the children who develop a friendship with the lovable elephant after seeing him at the circus. The report also states that Tom Hanks has been offered a role as the villain in the new movie.
Both Hanks and Smith have other commitments which would have to be put on hold if they sign on, for Hanks that is World War II drama The Grey Hound while for Smith it would mean another delay to the long-awaited Bad Boys sequel Bad Boys For Life.
Dumbo is the latest of Disney's animated classic to be given the live-action treatment and will be brought to the big screen with mix of live action and animation. It follows the success of Maleficent, Cinderella and The Jungle Book which have already made the transition successfully.
The original, which you can check out here in our online store along with the rest of Disney's animated classics, told the story of a ridiculed baby circus elephant who teams up with a mouse and works to achieve his full potential
