Woody Harrelson confirms he will play Garris Shrike in Star Wars young Han Solo spin-off
Woody Harrelson has revealed that he will be playing the role of Garris Shrike in the new Star Wars spin-off about young Han Solo.
Harrelson was confirmed as being part of the movie earlier this month, but no role was announced, however, during a new interview at the Sundance Film Festival, Harrelson confirmed that he is in fact playing Garris Shrike.
Shrike serves as an early mentor to Solo and teaches him how to fly and as well as serving as his entry into a world of smuggling and other crimes.
Alden Ehrenreich, star of Hail, Caesar and Beautiful Creatures is to play young Han Solo in the much-anticipated new Star Wars spin-off, which is now in pre-production, Donald Glover, best known for his roles in Community and The Martian, will take the role of young Lando Calrissian, while Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke also has a key role in the spin-off.
The film, which is expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, is currently in pre-production with 22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It is due to hit cinemas on May 25th in 2018.
This movie is the second Star Wars spin-off following the release of Rogue One - A Star Wars Story, which is in cinemas now.
Rogue One stars The Theory Of Everything's Felicity Jones, The Last King Of Scotland's Forest Whitaker, Milk's Diego Luna, Casino Royale star Mads Mikkelsen, Dragon's Donnie Yen, The Sun Also Rises' Jiang Wen, Firefly's Alan Tudyk and Exodus: Gods And Kings' Ben Mendelsohn and has been directed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.
The story is set in between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope and follows a band of rebel fighters who come together to steal the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor's rule.
