Work begins on 23 Jump Street, with Rodney Rothman returning as writer
Work on 23 Jump Street, the follow-up to the smash-hit comedy 22 Jump Street, is now underway.
According to Deadline, producers have tasked Rodney Rothman, who was one of the writers on 22 Jump Street, with penning the script for the third instalment in the franchise.
Deadline also state that directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have not signed up to direct the film yet, but are overseeing the script, with producers hopeful they will return to the director's chairs once they are satisfied with the script.
22 Jump Street, which starred Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as Schmidt and Jenko as undercover police officers who are tasked with infiltrating a deadly crime ring, grossed over $320 million on a budget of less than $60 million, making it a very profitable film.
There is currently no planned release date for the new film, but given the success of 22 Jump Street, both producers and studio bosses are likely to want a quick turnaround.
