World War Z sequel release date revealed
The sequel to zombie blockbuster World War Z will emerge into cinemas in the summer of 2017, producers have confirmed.
The new movie will be released into cinemas on June 9th in 2017, a full four years after the original was released. Brad Pitt will return to star in the sequel, though it's not known who will star alongside him.
The sequel, which is currently just known as World War Z 2, is currently being written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. It will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who is best known for being behind the camera on The Impossible.
World War Z's development and shoot were both famously troubled, with multiple writers brought in to fix the film's troublesome ending. During post-production, producers ended up being forced to leave an epic 12-minute battle scene on the cutting room floor. This perhaps explains the sequel's relatively slow development process.
