X-Men: Apocalypse trailer to premiere alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens
The first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse will premiere in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed.
The next mutant blockbuster is due for release in May of next year, but aside from a handful of stills, nothing has emerged from the movie as yet.
But, talking to Collider, writer and producer Kinberg has confirmed that the trailer will arrive in cinemas next month alongside Star Wars.
He said: "Our first trailer will be on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser but it’s certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it.”
X-Men: Apocalypse will see Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return for to reprise their roles. Bryan Singer will return as director, working from a script by Kinberg, with a story from Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
The film also has a slew of new cast members, including Game Of Thrones Sophie Turner, who most people will know as Sansa Stark, will play young Jean Grey, who was brought to life in the original trilogy by Famke Janssen, while Alexandra Shipp, who recently starred as Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, will play the younger Storm, played originally by Halle Berry.
As well as this, Kodi Smit-McPhee, star of The Road, will play young Nightcrawler, and Tye Sheridan, who has starred in Mud and Tree Of Life, will portray a younger Cyclops, a character played originally by James Marsden. Ben Hardy, who most recently starred as Peter Beale in Eastenders, has been cast in an yet unknown role.
The film will be released on May 19th 2016 in the UK and May 27th in the US. It is the follow-up to X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which is available here in our online store.
