X-Men, Jamestown and The Social Network stars sign up to play Queen in new biopic
X-Men: Apocalypse star Ben Hardy, The Social Network's Joe Mazzello and Jamestown's Gwilym Lee have signed up to star as the other members of Queen in the forthcoming biopic of the band.
Mr. Robot star Rami Malek will play Freddie Mercury in the movie, with Hardy playing drummer Roger Taylor, Mazello is bassist John Deacon and Lee portraying big-haired axeman Brian May.
I'm very excited to say that I'll be playing @DrBrianMay in Bohemian Rhapsody - the upcoming film about Queen! Right...I'm off to practice 🎸— Gwilym Lee (@Gwilymlee) August 21, 2017
The movie will be directed by Bryan Singer with A Cure For Wellness writer Justin Haythe supplying the script. Production gets underway in the next few weeks and will have full access to the Queen back catalogue, with a large-scale scene around the band's 1985 performance at Live Aid planned to be one of the movie's centrepieces.
Malek took the role of Mercury after the departure of Sacha Baron Cohen from the production after disagreements over the script. Baron Cohen had previously taken over from Ben Whishaw, who was the first actor to be attached to the movie.
The movie, which is as yet untitled, is due in cinemas in December next year.
