X-Men spin-off The New Mutants delayed again, Gambit now in limbo
X-Men spin-offs The New Mutants and Gambit have been delayed once again.
The New Mutants, which stars Game Of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Split's Anya Taylor-Joy, was due to hit cinemas on April 11th in 2018, but was then pushed back to February 14th in 2019.
Now the movie won't arrive in cinemas until April 3th in 2020.
In The New Mutants, we follow five young mutants, all of whom are just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will. Together they will fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
Gambit, meanwhile, has not only been delayed, but it has now been taken off release schedules.
The spin-off has been beset by development problems and directorial departures. Pirates Of The Caribbean/A Cure For Wellness man, Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt have all been attached to direct at one time or another, but have all departed before production could begin.
Gambit, who is still due to be played by Channing Tatum, is a mutant who can mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire.
He is also incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a bō.
