X-Men spin-offs The New Mutants and Gambit delayed
The release dates of both X-Men spin-offs The New Mutants and Gambit have been pushed back.
The New Mutants, which stars Game Of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Split's Anya Taylor-Joy, was due to hit cinemas on April 11th, but has now been pushed back to February 14th in 2019.
In The New Mutants, we follow five young mutants, all of whom are just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will. Together they will fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
Part of the reason for its delay is that the release of troubled spin-off Gambit has been delayed once again. Gambit was due to hit cinemas on February 14th, but New Mutants has taken that slot with Gambit moving back to June 7th in 2019.
Before production can get underway on Gambit the search is on once again for a new director after Pirates Of The Caribbean/A Cure For Wellness man Gore Verbinski left the project. Verbinski joins Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt in departing the movie before production gets going.
Gambit, who will be played by Channing Tatum, is a mutant who can mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire.
He is also incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a bō.
