Zac Efron to join Dwayne Johnson in starring in the Baywatch movie
Zac Efron looks set to join Dwayne Johnson in starring in the big-screen version of hit 1990s TV show Baywatch.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Efron has not formally signed up for the movie yet, but Johnson tweeted a number of times yesterday (August 10th) to welcome him to the cast, suggesting the deal is pretty much done.
The movie adaptation of Baywatch has been in development for a number of years now, but appears to be finally coming together for a shoot in February 2016.
Johnson will play a older lifeguard who is a stickler for the rules who is forced to team up with a hotheaded young recruit (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon.
Seth Gordon, director of Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, will direct the movie which has a script from Freddy Vs Jason writing duo Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.
