Zoë Kravitz will play Catwoman in The Batman

Zoë Kravitz will be Catwoman in The Batman

Kravitz, best known for her roles in Big Little Lies and Mad Max: Fury Road, will play Selina Kyle in the new take on the story, where she will go up against Robert Pattinson's new Batman.

Jonah Hill will play the villain, though it's not known what role he will take.

Jeffrey Wright, best known for playing Felix Leitner to Daniel Craig's James Bond, is also in talks to play Commissioner Gordon in the new reboot.

Pattinson takes the role for the first time, replacing Ben Affleck. Affleck played the Caped Crusader in 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Suicide Squad and 2017's Justice League.

Affleck had been due to both star and direct The Batman, but first stepped down as director, passing the torch to War For The Planet Of The Apes' Matt Reeves. He then stepped down from the role completely. The Batman will arrive in cinemas on June 25th in 2021.

Speaking about the film previously, Reeves said: "It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been."

He continued: "I'd love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it's going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation."
