The 355

Starring: Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, Sebastian Stan, Edgar Ramírez

An all-star cast are drawn together for this high-octane action-adventure.

The 355 we watch on as a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, forcing Chastain's wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown to join forces with rival agents from around the world on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it, while also staying one step ahead of a mysterious woman, who is tracking their every move.

The action takes them around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth and glamour of Shanghai, as they plot to retrieve the weapon and somehow stay alive...

 

Ambulance

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, Garret Dillahunt, A Martinez, Keir O'Donnell, Moses Ingram, Wale Folarin

Director: Michael Bay

Release Date: February 18th

 

Michael Bay takes the 2005 Danish film of the same name by Laurits Munch-Petersen and gives it his signature explosive treatment. 

The film follows Abdul-Mateen II's Will Sharp, a war veteran who desperately needs $231,000 for his wife's surgery. He reaches out to Gyllenhaal's Danny, his adoptive brother and a life-long criminal who talks him into taking part in a $32 million bank heist.

The robbery goes wrong when the two shoot an LAPD officer. The pair are soon on the run in an ambulance with a paramedic and the dying officer as their hostages.

 

Bullet Train

Starring: Brad Pitt, Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Sandra Bullock

Director: David Leitch

Release Date: July 15th

 

David Leitch, who has overseen action spectaculars Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Hobbs and Shaw, takes charge of a starry cast for this new epic. 

The film is based on the novel Maria Beetle by Kōtarō Isaka and follows five assassins who find themselves on a Japanese bullet train.

As the narrative unfolds, all five come to realise that their individual assignments are all interconnected...

 

The Outfit

Starring: Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Johnny Flynn, Dylan O'Brien, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Simon Russell Beale

Director: Graham Moore

Release Date: February 25th

 

Mark Rylance leads the way in this stylish new action-thriller from Graham Moore, writer of The Imitation Game. 

Rylance plays Leonard, an English tailor who used to craft suits Savile Row, but, after a personal tragedy, he finds himself in Chicago, operating a small tailor shop in a rough part of town.

In his new life, he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them: a family of vicious gangsters.

Sadly, things go awry and Leonard must use all his wits to survive a fateful night...

 

The Man From Toronto

Starring: Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco, Ellen Barkin

Director: Patrick Hughes

Release Date: August 12th

 

Kevin Hart leads this slapstick action-comedy, which follows Graeme, a screw-up is forced to team up with an assassin after the two are confused for one another while staying at an Airbnb...

Hughes, who has just made The Hitman's Bodyguard's Wife, takes charge of this one. 

 

Operation Fortune

Starring: Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, Hugh Grant

Director: Guy Ritchie

Release Date: TBC

 

After overseeing two blockbusters in King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword and Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin, Guy Ritchie is currently revelling in making low-budget action romps.

This new effort, which once again sees Ritchie team up with Jason Statham, is a high-octane caper. 

The story will follow super spy Orson Fortune and his team of top operatives as they are forced to recruit Hollywood's biggest movie star, Danny Francesco, to help them on an undercover mission.

The mission is to stop billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds from selling a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order...

 

Thirteen Lives

Starring: Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, Joel Edgerton

Director: Ron Howard

Release Date: April 15th

 

Ron Howard has overseen this big-budget re-telling of the events of the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue that saw a junior football team and their coach trapped in a cave for a period of 18 days.

The film is based on the book by John Volanthen, the British cave diver who was a key part of the rescue. 

 

The Contractor

Starring: Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, Florian Munteanu, Kiefer Sutherland

Director: Tarik Saleh

Release Date: March 18th

 

Tarik Saleh, the Swedish director behind the much-acclaimed thriller The Nile Hilton Incident, makes his English language big-screen debut with this movie.

Pine plays James Harper, a soldier who has just been involuntarily discharged from the U.S. Special Forces.

After finding work in a private contracting organization, he is sent overseas on a covert mission, but, on the way home, suddenly finds himself trying to evade those trying to kill him...

 

Samaritan

Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Javon Walton, Martin Starr, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, Moisés Arias

Director: Julius Avery

Release Date: August 26th

 

Sylvester Stallone leads this unlikely superhero action drama. 

We follow Sam Cleary, a young boy who comes to the realization that a famed superhero, who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle 20 years ago, may in fact still be around.

The film is based on the Mythos Comics graphic novels created by Bragi F. Schut, Marc Olivent and Renzo Podesta. Schut has also provided the screenplay for Avery, who made bloody action-thriller Overlord in 2018.

 

Beast

Starring: Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley, Leah Jefferies

Director: Baltasar Kormákur

Release Date: August 19th

 

Idris Elba faces down a lion in this bloody new thriller. 

Elba plays Doctor Nate Samuels, a father, who, along with his two teenage daughters find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving that the Savanna has but one apex predator.

The Luther star will team up with Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur, who has previously directed survival dramas Everest and Adrift, while Rampage scribe Ryan Engle has written the script, which is based on an idea from producer Jaime Primak-Sullivan.
